One of my favourite regular bits of Mojo is their How To Buy column, where we the readers get to assess the relative merits of an artist’s, genre or label’s back catalogue and choose our top ten.
This month the focus is on On-U Sound, Adrian Sherwood’s record label.
I think my first experience of the label would have been hearing Barmy Army doing Billy Bonds MBE on the Peel show. And very quickly after that the Pay It All Back Vol 2 became a firm favourite amongst my group of friends.
Somehow I don’t seem to have a copy anymore, so it’s a bit difficult to judge how well it’s survived the 20 year intervening period. But I hope well.
Anyway if you have happy memories of the label you too should get over to Mojo to give it’s readers the benefit of your thoughts.

Happy memories indeed of Gary Clail and the on-U Sound System’s single ‘these things are worth fighting for’. I think I used to put that on nearly every compilation tape for playing in the car.
Must hunt it out and rip it – I don;t seem to have it on my PC.
