London Assembly Labour: Len Duvall

Posted in Lewisham's Politicians by Andrew Brown on February 6th, 2008

Len’s page on the new London Assembly Labour Group website (which looks like more of John’s work).  Here’s part of what Len has to say:

I receive a healthy postbag from constituents and take up a lot of casework and issues for residents if they are raised with me. I work with individual Members of Parliament on GLA related matters or where my help has been requested. I have regular dealings with the Leader of Greenwich, the Mayor of Lewisham and local councillors in both boroughs.

One of my duties as a member of the GLA is to chair meetings of the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) where things like where our local police teams operate and what their priorities should be are decided. The MPA is the organisation that scrutinises and supports the work of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The MPA also sets policing targets and monitors performance regularly against those targets and it oversees the appointment and discipline of senior police officers and be accountable for the management of the police budget.

Thanks for the second plug of the week… :-)

All we have to do now is persuade Len he needs his own site - Val Shawcross and Murad Qureshi have already gone down that route…
