Book meme
Bob tagged me with a book meme. The task:
- Pick up the nearest book.
- Open to page 123.
- Find the fifth sentence.
- Post the next three sentences.
- Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged you.
The book is Infidel, Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s autobiography - she’s got a blog too.
On page 123 she’s returning to Mogadishu after a period of excile that’s included Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Kenya:
The airstrip was a path swept in the sand. Passengers scrabbled and tugged at a huge heap of battered suitcases that were dumped, unceremoniously, under the plane. Outside the airport a swarm of men descended on us, urging us to ride with them into town.

Cool book.
I’m enjoying it.
Another book I recently read was Poor Mercy. It’s fiction, but covers similar themes.
Mine seems a little disapointing compared with others. But now i have heard of some of these i may well take a look.
Apologies I spotted Tom F’s post on this before yours Andrew - you did tag me first but hopefully you’ve seen my attempt now!
Yes, I did and Tom’s and as always was impressed with both.
