Someday I Will Treat You Good

Coke Campaign

Posted by: Andrew Brown on: 28 June, 2008

You know how you get lots of invitations to join groups on Facebook, mostly – at least for me – ones about how you think this or that politician is the best thing since sliced bread/a bounder and a rotter.

Well, this group is a bit different.

Simon, who’s behind the group points out that the biggest killer of children around the globe is dehydration but that at least one company, Coca Cola, seems pretty good at getting pretty close to where these children are dying.  And he’s asking for their help:

What about Coca Cola using their distribution channels (which are amazing in developing countries) to distribute rehydration salts? Maybe by dedicating one compartment in every 10 crates as ‘the life saving’ compartment?

Coke have been reacting positively and he’s had a meeting to discuss how to implement it.

Simon, in an email to the Facebook group asking us to pass the message on and ask others to join the group, says:

5,500 children under 5 die every day in Africa. This initiative could save thousands and thousands of children’s lives through collaboration between the private, NGO and Government sectors. And now we are talking.

So, if you’re a member of Facebook why not join a group that might actually be achieving something startling.
