Music tastes link to personality

The BBC:

Musical tastes and personality type are closely related, according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world.

The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot-Watt University, is said to be the largest such study ever undertaken. 

Apparently those of use who like soul music have:

High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle, at ease

But those who like indie should have:

Low self-esteem, creative, not hard working, not gentle

Anyway should you want to take part then peopleintomusic.com is the place to go.

The questionnaire asks for your first “important” record and then asks a series of questions about how what it symbolises.

The one I chose was the peerless Searching for the Young Soul Rebels by Dexys, still sounding strong after all those years.

While it might not be my absolute favourite album of all time, it’s definately been in the top 10 since I heard it back at the beginning of the 80s.

If you’ve only heard Come On Eileen – as I did far too often in those far off days – then I’d urge you to give this a listen.
