I was very sorry to hear that Les has died.
There’s a nice tribute to him and the considerable legacy that he created during his time as a councillor on the council’s website.
Steve Bullock is quoted saying:
“Les Eytle was a wise and caring man who served the borough of Lewisham with great distinction for many years. He made our borough a better place through his efforts and by his example. We do not bestow the freedom of the borough lightly in Lewisham but Les was a someone for whom that honour was well deserved. We will all miss him.”
I whole heartedly agree.
