More news from the under 10 Lewisham cricket team’s season, which having started on such a high seems to have followed the England one day team into a bit of a nose dive.
Today’s match was against Bexley, who I understand had beaten the Lewisham boys a few weeks ago at a match I didn’t see. [...]

After making the last minute decision not to brave the weather on Friday evening I’m glad that I got down to Beckenham today to see Kent take Essex to the cleaners.
Some big hitting by the opening batsman, Joe Denly, who made 91 off 50 odd balls, and seemed to be trying to recreate [...]

Lewisham’s under 10 cricketers took to the field for the second time this season, once again facing their Greenwich counterparts.
This time Lewisham batted first, and found the going much harder than on the previous occasion. In perfect conditions for swing Greenwich’s bowlers had the upper hand, with Lewisham scoring at run an over for [...]

Last Sunday saw Lewisham’s under 10 cricket team in action for the first time this season and I was lucky enough to be there.
Set 87 to win, in a 25 over game, by their Greenwich rivals the Lewisham side got off to the worst possible start. In a devastating opening spell Lewisham were reduced to [...]

Congratulations to the Finnish cricket team who made it to the semi-finals of the European Indoor Championship. Unfortunately they came a cropper at that point loosing to Portugal by 11 runs.
Portugal go on to play Denmark in the final tomorrow, while Finland play Belgium for 3rd place.
I’m hoping my title for this post translates something [...]

Today saw the start of cricket’s European Indoor Championship and it’s being hosted by the Finns. You might remember that they are closely linked to Lewisham through their coach Ross Walker, who runs TeachSport.
Looking at the website it looks like the Finns have started well winning against Luxembourg, Belguim and Greece.
So, I urge you [...]

I won’t say too much about the game, which was pretty dire for long periods, but the stadium is impressive, even if the burgers are too expensive.

By happy coincidence I found myself in the same seminar in Birmingham today as Ross Walker and Carrie Perkins from Teachsport - looks like their website isn’t quite finished yet but you’ll get the idea.
I have seem to be making a habit of meeting Lewisham people in Birmingham having run into Cllr Morris at the [...]

Went to the last day of the Test Match today to see if England could save the match.
They did and in the process we got to see Kevin Peitersen make a hundred and Vaughan, Collingwood and Bell all play supporting roles, building on the work that Strauss and Cook had done the night before.
Ball of [...]
