I woke up this morning and turned on the excellent World Service, where I found out that the impact of the airline industry on global warming is about 3% per year (at the moment) while deforestation accounts for 25%.
Wouldn’t have thought it was this way round given the amount of coverage there’s been on both subjects would you.
Mind you don’t start sounding like Michael Ryan!
I think if air travel continues to grow at the rate it is it will become (gasp) 5% of carbon emissions by 2020 or 2050. It is simply an easy target because for many people it is a luxury they could live without. There are far more serious emitters of carbon that should be tackled first and the discussion needs to include nuclear power stations.
Michael O’Leary not Ryan.
Ha, not sure I want to sound like either thanks.
far too much prince charles coverage for my liking. im for trees. look better than him and a more valuable part of any community.
