Top MP! I’m sure even Kate would agree that having Joan Ruddock as an MP makes Lewisham a better place than most others.

  2. kate says:

Oi Nigel, in stupid people talk please, πŸ˜‰ and she isnt my mp… i dont think. How are you? I dont understand why you would want to go to the houses of parliament to meet your “local” mp.

  3. kate says:

Sorry Nigel i hope you dont think i was being rude.

  4. Love Lewisham says:

I didn’t think you were being rude, I just didn’t understand what you meant (“in stupid people talk please”). I know she isn’t your MP, but she is a Lewisham MP, and your site isn’t called ‘Lewisham East’ or ‘Lewisham Housing’ (!) Sucks, is it? I expect the idea of meeting Joan at the Houses of Parliament is supposed to be a bit of a ‘treat’. I’ve always thought it would be interesting to take a look inside. I remember Joan Ruddock from the huge CND rallies, I’ve been a fan ever since! I suppose all I’m trying to say is that there are lots of good, hard working people employed and elected to represent Lewisham… but I can see why you feel the way you do.

  5. kate says:

Is she a good a mp? I havent heard much about her. i think my mp is Bridgit Prentice, i emailed her but havent had a reply.I didnt understand what you meant. I like things put plainly so i understand. I should have paid attention at school. Im finding a few worthwhile council folk but its bloody hard going. πŸ˜‰ Are you going to see her?

I think Joan’s great as well – despite disagreeing with her on all sorts of things. And like Nigel says the reason for the meeting to be held at the Commons is to give us the chance to visit the Palace and see inside.

I spent 8 years working there and can only say it’s an amazing building and definitely worth a visiting if you get the chance. The chamber itself, for example, is much smaller than you’d expect and the Lords much more ornate than the Commons. Plus where else outside of nightclubs in Soho do you get to see so many men in stockings.

  7. kate says:

Im now going to research Joan Ruddock. maybe i could do a Lewisham sucks less because…. section on my blog. Maybe ask people to nominate lbl people that dont suck.

  8. andrewkbrown says:

I like Bridget as well, but don’t know Jim (Dowd) that well.

I like the “sucks less” idea! Lots of people I could nominate for that one.

  9. Love Lewisham says:

From what I’ve seen, Joan works very hard for her constituents. She seems to care for people and , like you, gets angry when those of us who work for Lewisham Council don’t get things right. Like Andrew, I expect I’d disagree with her on a few things. Of course most people tend to be cynical`about politicians these days and wonder whether the whole thing worth it, but seeing Joan at work (and Andrew, back when he was kicking my arse at Lewisham!) makes you think that it’s not such a bad idea after all! Anyway, enough sucking-up!

  10. kate says:

Nothing wrong with sucking up …. ocasionally

We we all do it, but it was in a nice way…. god i cant stop myself. Ha Ha.
