Yet More Bees

Joan Ruddock friend of beesYesterday evening at a meeting of the Labour Party I had the chance to ask Joan why she’d been so interested in bees.

Joan’s interest stems from her work with the organic and environmentally sustainable food industry (not sure that industry is the right word here, but you’ll let it pass won’t you?).  As you’ll have picked up from the questions there’s real uncertainty about the reasons that colonies of bees have been collapsing and Joan talked about a number of possible reasons with us.  Apparently there’s research being conducted about whether electro-magnetic fields could be a cause other possibilities include disease or parasite infestation.

As you can imagine there was a lively and (perhaps surprisingly) well informed debate on the issue amongst members of the party; a number of whom had kept or knew people who are bee keepers.

If you too would like to sound as erudite and informed as a member of the Deptford Labour Party on Colony Collapse Disorder then Wikipedia has an article.
