Thanks to Robert, who has been reading one of the local Internet forums, I’ve found out that another of Labour’s local manifesto commitments – with the help of a Green Party budget amendment – is starting to be delivered; although not without a few bumps.
Robert reports that a street full of brown bins appeared in Brockley. I asked my source what they were for:
These bins are part of green waste collection service trial. The residents have been given information about the trial. It will be assessed against our recycling and waste reduction targets at the end of the summer.
Like many others I compost most of my garden waste, but where I can’t it’ll be a welcome addition to the options I’ve got for disposing of the residual green waste.
