Interesting to see this story in The Observer which looks at the rising numbers of people who drink so much they need hospital attention.
But not, it appears, in Lewisham:
Most of the regions with the fewest emergency admissions are in the south, including Wokingham in Berkshire and Lewisham in south London.
Well, that’s not how it feels in Lewisham A&E on a Saturday night!
Well I guess it must feel much worse elsewhere then!
or maybe a great number of Lewisham drinkers never make it to the hospital!
Maybe, but that’s going beyond the information we’ve got at our finger tips!
I did my bit yesterday – by making sure I got drunk in Greenwich.
I think that it may have something to do with the fact that getting plastered is a typical after work activity and as Lewisham is a dormitory borough we don’t get that kind of drinking.
Things have changed for the better since I lived there…
…although there is no causal relationship. I think.
