Groups Near You – meet your neighbours

Richard Pope, who is a damned clever chap, has launched GroupsNearYou.com in beta.  On his blog he asks:

So why is this useful? Are people really going to rush to the computer when they move to a new area? That’s part of it, although probably more for the more internet savvy who have heard about the site.

He goes on to list a number of ways he thinks it could be useful; mash-ups with things like Fix My Street; local councils wanting to spread the word about consultations; seeding new online communities.

Anyway I’ve added this blog to it, and I’d urge those of you who write blogs about your locality, or run internet forums to do the same.

Speaking of which I see there’s a new forum for SE13.
