Friends of the Livesey Museum for Children

At the LiveseyFriends of the Livesey Museum for Children have a blog where they are trying to explain what’s happening with the campaign to reopen the museaum. One post makes it clear that my hope that community ownership isn’t off the table, even if the spirit of the Quirk Review doesn’t seem to be something the leader of the council is familiar with:

Following the meeting with Southwark Council, we now have an idea of the costs involved for leasing the building from the council.

The council is looking to charge around £60,000 per annum (payable quarterly in advance) for rent and “service charge”. We’d like to make sure that everything is above board, and we’re getting the best deal, so we’re looking for a surveyor who would be prepared to work pro bono, and possibly a conveyancing solicitor.

I wish the Friends every success in the task.
