Triumph of Lewisham over Greenwich

Last Sunday saw Lewisham’s under 10 cricket team in action for the first time this season and I was lucky enough to be there.

Set 87 to win, in a 25 over game, by their Greenwich rivals the Lewisham side got off to the worst possible start.  In a devastating opening spell Lewisham were reduced to 0 for 2 in two overs.

However, Lewisham’s captain and his middle order partner steadied the ship with 23 and 11 runs respectively.  Setting the side up for their ultimate victory, which was achieved with some extravagant late order hitting by the next three batsmen.

All of which brought Lewisham home with 5 overs and 4 wickets to spare.

Lewisham’s bowling while occasionally wayward showed some potential stars of the future, and they seem to have the happy knack of being able to break partnerships before they got momentum.

An excellent win.
